04/30/11

Today I noticed that they are ready to pour the concrete floor in the Genesis/Youth bldg. Metal framing continues to go up on the sanctuary building. Steel beams have been installed in the upper tier of the stadium seating. Most obvious, the back parking lot has been paved. This is a move to save some money now, as oil prices (asphalt has oil in it) continues to rise. And on the display area at the entrance to the site you can now see how the brick facing will look.

It was pretty muddy going at the site this morning. Heavy rains will do that for you. A lot of work done this past week. The metal framing is going up on the sanctuary building. This will help it look more like a building than a roof support. The air duct installation has started there as well. Today I saw some workers polishing the concrete in the foyer. The stage area is starting to be framed. More steps have been poured on the stadium seating. And the Kidstown/Preschool has been a hub of activity with insulation siding being completed over the metal frame. Happy Easter everybody!

Quite a lot done this week. Among the changes I saw this week, the green metal roof is being installed on the Pre-school/Kidstown bldg. The metal stud framing for the walls is being erected in the pre-school. More concrete has been poured for the stadium seating at the rear of the sanctuary. Tall lights are being placed in the parking lot. And Pastor explained the mysterious structure at the entrance. It is simply a place where the contractors display the way they are putting the metal building structure and siding together for approval before they proceed. Beauty, mate!

A good bit of work to report on from the past week. But first, a mystery! Two weeks ago I noticed a small concrete pad set at the entrance to the site, on the corner, just to the right of the Youth/Genesis building. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) A small hut-like structure is now being erected. Cannot imagine what it could be! Looks like a ticketbooth, or a guard shack. Any ideas? Leave me a comment! I will try to find out. The Youth/Genesis building is coming along. The subroofing is being placed atop. I spotted workers spraying black paint onto the sanctuary ceiling. Concrete has been poured for the first level of the stadium seating. Styrofoam is being hung on outside walls of the Pre-school/Kidstown building. And out in the parking lot, streetlights are being erected. Busy, busy, busy!

Looks to me like the major progress this past week was in the construction of the stadium seating sections. The forms are being placed and re-bar set for the pouring of the stepped supports.
