12/23/10

With Christmas Day being Saturday, I decided to drive out to the site today instead. Clear, sunny and cold. Barely 42 in the wind. Anywho, a lot of progress in the short week. They were busy grading the parking lot, and were installing the subroofing. Really starting to see the building come together. Also, the concrete is being poured for the Kidstown/Pre-school bldg.

Went out to the site this morning for my weekly visit. Cold and rainy day. Too muddy to tromp around the building. Not alot of change is apparent from last weekend. The parking lot however has been graveled in and the footing was quite firm. Was able to walk in and around a bit. I think I even found where I want to park.

12/11/10

Rather rainy day, but I wanted to take my grandson, David to see the new building. They have added the steel to the back end, where the offices will be. They have also started preparing to pour concrete for the Kidstown and Pre-school building.

Went out this morning. A bit more has been completed. The rafters are nearly complete on the sanctuary. A bit more done on the parking lot, and the Kid'sTown/Preschool Bldg is progressing nicely.

Made my weekly trip to the construction site this morning. Quite a bit has been done since the last visit. They have started hanging the rafters on both side of the building. And they are pouring the curbing for the parking lot. Take a look!

11/18/10

Was out of town for a few days. Fred said that the steel would arrive Monday, so I anticipated seeing progress this morning when I visited the site. I was not disappointed. They have begun hanging steel at both the north and south ends of the sancutary building, leaving room to bring the crane out the back. I will be going out again Saturday for a closer look.

11/13/10

Went by the site this morning to check on the progress. No steel yet, but there is a crane on site. Steel should arrive soon. Also, I was surprised to see that the foundation and utilities are set for the Kid's Town/Pre-school facility, just to the north of the sanctuary. Awesome!!

10/23/10

I went by the site this morning. No noticeable progress that I could see. I'm waiting to see some steel hung, but did not see any on site. Thought I would post a photo of the old sanctuary and one of The Extension where we are currently meeting for one service on Saturday night and three services on Sunday mornings. We also meet for one service on Sunday morning at the Northwood Academy gymnasium. Northwood Church has continued to grow despite the scattered services. I am also including a photo of the project. Excuse the quality of the photo. Best I could do with the flash photo (glare and all).

10/16/10

Spoke with Pastor this morning. He said that the contractors had completed pouring the footings for the sanctuary and would be laying the gravel rock for the parking lot and roads soon. Went out to the site this morning and took a few pictures of the foundation. Have a view from the front of church looking left and right, of the foyer area with the sanctuary beyond and of the parking lot and circular drive in the front of the building. Won't be long till they are hanging steel.

Starting Steps!

Went to the Carnes site this week. Wow, things are really starting to come together. Foundation is beginning to be layed, electrical power is being run to the site and if you squint just a little, you can begin to see a little bit of what's to come. I love it!

Construction starts slow

In June 2010 I went out to view progress on the site preparation. A dirt pad had been formed, but little could be seen in the way of construction.

Start of a journey!

On a warm summer's night in mid-August 2006, the lives of the body of Christ at Northwood Assembly were changed dramatically. An electrical fire destoyed the sanctuary where over 1800 worshippers attended each week. It has been a time of stretching and growing, but after four years, a new facility is being erected at the new church site in the Carnes subdivision of Goose Creek, SC. This blog is an attempt to chronicle the activities around the new construction including photos and video. I hope that you enjoy!
